AVT MAGIC THipPro Telephone Hybrid
The MAGIC THipPro is the most flexible and functional Talkshow System in our portfolio. The system is available with 8 or 16 VoIP lines. Optionally, POTS or ISDN modules can be integrated, providing a maximum of 8 POTS interfaces for connection to analogue telephone lines or a maximum of 16 ISDN channels. A special feature of the MAGIC THipPro is the so-called Mixed Mode in which the system can be operated with POTS or ISDN lines and simultaneously with VoIP lines.
MAGIC THipPro provides two analogue and eight digital Audio inputs and outputs plus two handset/headset interfaces. Optionally, the AES67 upgrade allows the use of eight additional audio channels (8 x RX (2 streams) and 8 x TX (1 stream)) via IP. Alternatively, a Ravenna or Dante module is also available. The Audio interfaces can be assigned freely to the up to 20 installed workplaces and 6 studios.
Functions
MAGIC THipPro can be connected to an MS SQL database Server. Different studios can use the same or individual databases for call screening. Of course, a blacklist function is also available. All features such as e.g. Auto Answer, call forwarding, Voice Disguise, Night Service and caller preselection are supported. As a special feature the answering machine functionality has been implemented – callers can be accepted automatically in HOLD, hear a pre-recorded message and are dropped afterwards, alternatively callers can also be recorded.
MAGIC THipPro Pure
For users who no longer require classic audio interfaces, the MAGIC THipPro Pure variant will also be available.
The optional AES67 software upgrade or the Dante or Ravenna module will be used for audio connection.

MAGIC THipPro LAN Software
The first software option is the MAGIC THipPro LAN software which is available as single-user licence. The software shows all caller lines in vertical order with status buttons (PRETALK, HOLD, ON AIR, DROP and if configured call forwarding) and level meter. Each line has an Info button which displays the caller‘s name and number or location depending on which information is available. Below, the caller‘s sex, age and mood can be displayed. It is also shown when the caller has been ON AIR the last time. In the information field below, text entries can be made to enter some more details about the caller. This information is also saved in the database and displayed at the next call from that phone number. The Last Calls list can be shown or hidden according to the programme‘s requirements. Via the Phone Book button, calls can be established easily in the desired status. Manual dialling is also possible, of course. Quick Dial Key can be programmed for the most important contacts.
The MAGIC THipPro Screener Software comes as a single-user licence. It shows the caller lines in horizontal order and offers in addition to the „normal“ operation some special functions for call screening. The user interface provides a detailed caller entry mask which can also be adapted individually to different programmes. The operator can prepare Noted Callers and Call Back Lists which can e.g. be send as preselection to the presenter‘s workplace. The presenter simply has to press a button to establish the connection. It is also possible for the Screener to note down callers‘ questions which are then displayed for the Presenter. For each caller, a history is created which shows the past entries and calls. Information about prizes can be entered as well as more detailed caller information such as e.g. his/her birthday and address. A special column can be displayed or hidden. In this column, the user can switch between Last Calls list, Caller‘s History, Blocked Callers list, Noted Callers and Call Back list.
Besides, MAGIC THipPro Screener can also be opened in the Presenter Mode which is a simplified view for the talkshow host without data entry mask. Further modes are the Data Manager Mode and the Presenter ON AIR Mode showing only callers who are ON AIR together with the most important information which suitable for e.g. TV call-in shows.
The MAGIC THipPro News Desk Client software is a simplified form of the MAGIC THipPro LAN software to which one or more lines from a separate News Desk line pool can be assigned. Each of the NewsDesk Clients can be assigned different lines from the pool. Included with this is the Pretalk Streaming licence, which allows the user to record the call in PRETALK and save it as a WAV file.
Therefore, this software is especially suitable for recording booths.It is not possible to configure the system or switch a caller to ON AIR via this software.
With the single-studio licences MAGIC THipPro Admin Studio it is possible to split or share the MAGIC THipPro between six studios. In each studio, only the allocated caller lines are displayed. For each studio you can define individual Audio lines. There are no restrictions how many workplaces are installed for each studio, in maximum 20 LAN or Screener PC Clients are allowed or alternatively 30 News Desk Clients.
Exclusively available for the MAGIC THipPro system is the MAGIC THipPro ACconnect Upgrade. This allows you to integrate a MAGIC ACip3 hardware Audio Codec into the user interface of the Telephone Hybrid. The Codec lines are shown as additional “caller lines” on the screen and provide high quality Audio over IP connections.
In VoIP mode, the HD Voice feature can be optionally activated, enabling connections in excellent 7 kHz (G.722) quality. If the system also has ISDN interfaces, G.722 is also supported for ISDN calls.
Thanks to the Competition Management feature, competitions can be managed directly in the Screener software of the MAGIC THipPro Telephone Hybrid. The Competition Editor can be used to create and edit competitions. If, for example, concert tickets are to be raffled, a production employee can enter the date, time and location of the event, the available ticket contingent and the number of tickets a winner will receive by default. Tickets for internal purposes can also be reserved here. If required, the ticket price can also be entered. If the competition is activated, the screener or directly the presenter can mark the winners in the database. In addition to the number of tickets or a prize, it is also possible to save the accompanying person(s). The number of available tickets is automatically adjusted so that all employees can keep track of them.For post-processing, it is possible to create clear lists – for accounting purposes optionally with bank data and value of the prize, event lists can contain the contact data of the winners
MAGIC THipPro also supports the Pretalk Streaming function. With this upgrade, the LAN connection between the hybrid and the control PC can be used for Pretalks, so no additional audio cables have to be routed. The conversation with the caller takes place via the PC sound card or a USB headset or handset. Pretalk Streaming also allows the caller and presenter signals to be recorded as a WAV file. A total of up to ten Pretalk Streaming licenses can be activated, these can be assigned to a workstation or defined as dynamic licenses.
MAGIC THipPro VoIP enables connection to the Microsoft Teams collaboration software, allowing reporters and correspondents using Microsoft Teams to be integrated directly into live broadcasts in the best HD voice audio quality. To use the function with MS Teams, a full version of Microsoft Teams is required, which is included in most Microsoft 365 plans. Additionally, connections can be established via WebRTC by providing an access link. This way, high quality connections are possible via any web browser without requiring specific software. The video signal of the caller is displayed for each line directly in the user interface and can additionally be output via NDI.The calls are displayed as Teams lines in the LAN or Screener software. A maximum of 8/16 callers can be integrated. All known functions such as PRETALK, HOLD and ON AIR or the search in the phone book, but also the participation in scheduled Microsoft Teams meetings are possible.
MAGIC PhonerSet enables convenient operation of the MAGIC THipPro telephone hybrids via a touchscreen-enabled telephone. The telephone can be used parallel to the Windows PC software or independently without a PC. The connection for the control of all caller lines and the transmission of the audio signal takes place via a standard network interface.
MAGIC PhonerSet uses the caller lines of the used telephone hybrid system – an additional registration to a SIP server is not necessary. MAGIC THipPro allows the simultaneous use of up to six MAGIC PhonerSets operator stations.
The operation is based on the respective PC software of the telephone hybrid system.
- The following telephony functions are supported separately for each available caller line: Call setup, call acceptance, hang up, redial, call transfer, PRETALK, HOLD, ON AIR (1-fader or 2-fader mode) and line blocking (LOCK).
- Further functions are available via the Function key: Lock/Unlock all lines (LOCK ALL), hang up all lines (DROP ALL) and Call List.
A practical tool for game shows or sports events is the DTMF Analyzer Upgrade. There are three operating modes to choose from: Standard, Gameshow and Event. In standard mode, only the numbers pressed by callers on their phone are displayed. In the game show mode, the first caller who pressed the button is additionally highlighted.
In event mode, the DTMF Analyzer can be used for sports reports, for example. We imagine there are several reporters in different stages and all of them are connected to the MAGIC TH6 via telephone. One of the reporters is switched to ON AIR while the others are in HOLD status. If it comes to an important event such as a gate, the reporter in HOLD mode also wants to signal this to the moderator. For this, DTMF event labels can be defined in advance in the software, e.g. the telephone key “0” is assigned the term “gate” and the key “1” means “red card”, etc. If a reporter now presses the “0” key, the information “Tor” appears in green letters on the moderator’s screen. The moderator can now immediately switch the reporter of the relevant game to ON AIR.
AES67 is available as a software upgrade for all MAGIC THipPro Telephone Hybrids. The upgrade allows the use of eight additional audio channels (8 x RX (2 Streams) and 8 x TX (1 Stream)) over IP via AES67. AES67 is the lowest common denominator of several similar technologies and ensures communication between e.g. AES67 compatible Dante and Ravenna devices. This feature is not available in ISDN operating mode.
With the Dante/AES67 interface card for MAGIC THipPro VoIP devices, 32 audio inputs/outputs can be routed over IP to Dante or AES67 compatible mixers.This feature includes 2 LAN interfaces for Dante and is only available for VoIP devices.
For more complex Ember+ configurations, the Ember+ Extension Upgrade offers simplified programming due to an improved functional overview. The Ember+ Consumer Extension licence is used for DHD mixers, for LAWO consoles the Ember+ Dial Pad Extension licence is used. A maximum of 16 licences can be activated for the MAGIC THipPro.
If a broadcasting station has several AVT telephone hybrids and audio codecs, these can be displayed in the MAGIC System Manager. This central management software allows a clear presentation of all MAGIC TH1Go, MAGIC TH2plus, MAGIC TH6, MAGIC THipPro and MAGIC ACip3 systems. Even if the system uses different software versions, all devices are supported. For each device, possible alarms and the operating status (in use, in configuration) are displayed. The query is made cyclically via SNMP. System Monitor, Registration Dialog, System Panel and Firmware Download can be accessed.
All hybrids and codecs can also be configured remotely from an administrative location. A complete remote configuration of the system is possible, all presets and super presets can be managed. For security reasons, the current status of the line is displayed. In the future also desired systems are to be selected and then on appropriate clients and systems a new release is to be rolled out completely. Reconfiguration is also planned, either manually or via a scheduler. Presets and super presets can be loaded quickly and easily, as well as SIP accounts can be assigned or changed.
One MAGIC System Manager license is required per system.
With the Dual LAN module, the system can be extended by two additional LAN interfaces, so that a total of four LAN interfaces are available.
MAGIC THipPro has two interfaces for handsets or headsets that can be used for Pretalk. Alternatively, you can use the optional Pretalk Streaming Upgrade to connect handsets or headsets directly to your PC via USB.
Optionally, a redundant power supply can be equipped. The 5V DC table power supply unit is included in this hardware upgrade.
The 8 x FXO Ports VoIP/POTS Gateway provides 8 interfaces for the connection to classic POTS infrastructure.
